Renaissance Danville's goal remains the same - to create neighborhoods which compliment the downtown and encourages more investment and home ownership.

Renaissance Danville is a not-for-profit organization, under the umbrella of Downtown Danville, Inc. which, using a combination of public and private funding, buys, restores and resells homes.

"Residential development has been a key element in every downtown plan for renovation in the past 30 years," said the Director of Development Services City of Danville. Prosperity in Danville's early years was tied to more residents within walking distance. "Having those people right downtown helps." He says this program is the best opportunity he has seen to achieve these goals.

The ability to increase housing stock is a central element. Plans include converting multi-family homes back to single family, restoration of original multi-family dwellings to their original layouts and new homes built in similar styles to compliment the neighborhood.

In recent years, some dilapidated homes in the neighborhood outlined have been demolished giving the opportunity for in-fill through new construction or moving homes from other areas of town.
